Dining Rooms and Romance

Dining rooms and romance definitely go hand in hand-but that’s not what this post is about. I have a dining room concept to work on so I’ll save that for a future topic. My thoughts today are on my love of a lantern hanging in my dining room.

I’ve shared the progress of my own home renovation and decorating on Instagram (JulieMInteriors) and I’ve been asked many times about the light fixture above my dining table.

Meet Darlana by Visual Comfort. No glass to clean and it’s a terrific scale for above a dining table or a kitchen island. Classic.

Here is a pair in polished nickel.

It’s simple yet stylish.

Back to thinking about romance. Another project I’m working on is a master suite. My client wants it to be serene and calm with a romantic quality.

These Miles Redd designs for Schumacher would be a gorgeous way to add a romantic quality to any master bedroom without too much femininity. Pillows or drapery panels would be stunning! The colorways are gorgeous-see more here.

Inspiration starts in many ways but for me I love to turn to fabrics.

I’ve got one week until completion and install of a client bonus room- it’s Amazing! Also, soon to hold a photo shoot for a bungalow I’ve completed. So, here’s to great projects and sharing. Next, I’ll begin sharing concepts for new spaces – including a dining room and this master suite.

I’d love to help you love the space you’re in. See my services and email me at julie@juliemontgomeryinteriors.com

Simply Savvy Space Solutions with Style:: A Space Tour

I hope this inspires you with all things that are Simply Savvy!

As a Professional Organizer that decorates I want to help others love their spaces by living simply, orderly, and beautifully. I often see spaces that are underutilized and have so much potential. Here’s the thing, you don’t need to feel limited with your space when there are creative solutions. Do you have the right space plan? Are you maximizing your spaces?– think high and low. You can fix the flow and add the function to create a home that’s efficient and orderly–with the style you’ll feel good about. Here are a few ideas:

1. Create an entry landing area for belongings. Bins, baskets, trays, and storage ottomans are perfect containers.

2. Use multi-purpose furnishings to streamline the space. For example, a workspace by day and entertaining by night with flexible seating.

3. Use display units that contain your collections and books but work as storage for hiding items.

4. Surround yourself with things you love but contain your items in groupings for order and style. I love using trays to hold books, vases, and other collections.

A Simply Savvy Space Solutions Tour

I’ve included each of these elements in hopes that you can take away a concept for your own space.

If your home or apartment does not have an office, you can utilize your dining space. Be creative with the function of your room. Closed storage and baskets on shelves allow you to access what you need but keep items hidden from view. Be sure to keep seating and surfaces flexible.

In this designed space, the homes entry could look something like entry A or B. They both include a place for storage (shoes, bags..) and grab and go items (keys, sunglasses, mail..). The color scheme introduces the look that will be seen in the overall space. Clean, simple, and clutter free!
